)I think I'll stick with Adsense on my test site, the gains in the box unit did not outweigh the losses in the other two, but I could definitely see Yahoo being better on some sites with perhaps only a box unit in use. Also, if Yahoo improves their targeting without lowering their payouts then it'll be an easy decision to switch.
↑ Back to topI've been running a test on my drug site and its been bad. I sometimes go a day without a click. Targetting still sucks.
↑ Back to topI've been in the Yahoo beta since the first wave, and I've had problems with ad relevancy. A large part of that might be a limited pool of ads to choose from, because sometimes it's spot-on but not usually. My blog is pretty eclectic, and that seems to really throw it for a loop. It's almost as if the engine gives up and just gives me some generic stuff sometimes. But the huge upside is a vastly superior CPC rate. Where Adsense was giving me pennies per click, some Yahoo clicks are in the dollars range.
↑ Back to topI had to remove my YPN due to ads not relating to my sites.

The lack of an adlinks format is the number one issue that needs to be resolved. Targeting remains a problem. Strictly from a business perspective, ads for gay cruises don't appeal to my particular audience.
↑ Back to topIf you are running a website on any of the above topics then there is a good choice that the YPN advertiser inventory will be able to serve up fairly related ads for your visitors. YPN is an excellent alternative to Adsense and one that you should experiment with to compare with your Adsense results.
↑ Back to topThe only problem I'm having with YPN, and one of the reasons why I believe the network is not respected by the online world yet is that there still seems to be a lack of advertisers. I've noticed the same 5 ads running on site each time I've visited. This can certainly get old to our viewers. I hope that Yahoo can get their act together and start competing with Google; right now, they are not even in the same league. I think it is time for a radical restructuring; Yahoo needs to target publishers and give them a reason to switch over, or they should consider selling off their ad network to someone who can come up with some fresh ideas to compete with Google. At this rate, sadly, it looks like they are going nowhere and fast.
↑ Back to topFor some people, this new program may work very well, and for others, they may find that using YPN advertisements lead to a decrease in earnings. Either way, the only way you can know for sure is if you experiment so apply and see what happens. You really dont have much to lose.
