Rent A Coder Reviews

Need to be careful who you choose to do work for you on Rent A Coder - now vWorker. I found a website, WebKingTechnologies.com, while searching for some coders to do extra projects for me. WebKingTechnologies.com is one of those copy/paste, dishonest and unprofessional companies from India. I found out later they are a vWorker. Waste of time dealing with sites like that.

Rent a coder always takes employers side and never treat coders very well. They are going to fail soon.

One of the best sites. Very professional and a buyer cannot scam a coder ever. Only weak point rent a coder has is there employers are not very friendly with people. They will do well in the future but if they are failing this would be the reason.

I have been using Rent A Coder for about a month and a half now, and I absolutely love it. This is honestly the single greatest contribution anyone has made for buyers and coders everywhere. Thank you RAC for your efforts!

I am a buyer currently on my 3rd project. I have tried the other sites in the past but have found a new home here. So far all the coders have been fast, responsive, and very driven to provide the best results. I have been able to save time, money and effort since turning to rentacoder.I only wish that I had found them sooner.

To start off RAC takes 15% of the project fees. RAC charges you handsome amount for even bonuses. There is no way of getting a premium membership and avoid hefty cuts in project fees on RAC. RAc charges an exorbitant amount for withdrawing your own money from RAC. Almost 50$!! Say if you get a 500$ project on RAC you pay 75$ to RAc for getting the project. The exorbitant fees on RAC means your are less competitive against your competitors. RAC's interference into buyer and seller understanding can be very irritating at times. They pretend to understand everything and then asks for evidence from either party during arbitration. RAC's principle of banning a user at the drop of hat can be quite irritating also. Similarly if you are a coder, beware of asking for half payments before finishing your work. You could get banned too!! There is no freedom at all.

Seriously, this site allows any decent coder to do just that - also, its a great way to get some quick coding done offshore.

Functional but expect to get underpaid and overcharged. rentacoder is a great concept, you (as a coder, designer, artist, etc) bid on projects day after day, posted by buyers. The buyers are looking for people to preform work for them and usualy they're looking for it to be done dirt cheap.

If your budget is limited and you want work done, then RAC is a great place. I have had several jobs done, from writing SQL code, creating articles for my website. The work provided is usually of great quality.

With serious projects rentacoder staff make mistakes. And they are proficient to blame someone else

This website is perhaps one of the greatest inventions after whole bread. In my opinion, the website is magnificent because it gives you a cost efficient, easy to use, solution to whatever it is you may need made.

They have a policy that leads to the cancellation of an account, and this policy places undue burden on coders who are already way underpaid and have to place hundreds of bids to get a single job. They do not allow you to post a link to a portfolio on your website, if that website contains any way possible to contact you.

I have already made almost $1000 in the first few days (I do a LOT of programming though). I came from getafreelancer.com and RAC is many times better because of the escrow system (some like to NOT PAY on GAF), though they do take a large 15% off the top of your bid.

I have 865 projects, completed via RentACoder There are many clones, but original (i.e. RentACoder.com) is outstanding one.

rentacoder staff are INCREDIBLY STUPID PROFESSIONAL LIARS. I would go on to say they are also INCREDIBLY INCOMPETANT AT THEIR JOBS. RENTACODER WILL MAKE YOU REGRET EVER SIGNING UP WITH THEM because they will demand and demand and demand many times over that you admit some personal flaw before they will let you change or end the plans you had in place.

If you are serious about considering joining an offshore market place, then go ahead and read what it is said about RAC throughout the internet.

I both buy and sell services on the site. As a coder I know I am going to get paid and there is a clear framework for dispute resolution. Those that are complaining about it sound as though they lost an arbitration. As a coder and buyer I have found the arbitration to be fair to both. Some of the coders are inexperienced or incompetant, but if you are paying $5-15 an hour you know you are taking a risk. However if the work is not right you dont pay, so it is a case of trial and error, and then working with coders who are good. There is a feedback system that takes much of the risk/guesswork out of it.

This company is only trying to save their coders in the case of an arbitration becuase they are proud to announce their bid amounts for a project request. Not caring about if their coders are qualified , if they are giving you good work.Only they do is to blame buyers. The faciliators are terrible, they even dont read your text, just force you to cancel the arbitration process also do not let you to rate the cheater coders even you have your official contract at your hand.Coder ratings are not trustable, even the cheaters have 10 average?

As a busy software creator,Smart Author Software, http://smartauthor.com , I have used this site often to find people to improve my products for me. I have been thrilled with the quality and costs. I highly recommend this site!

RAC is a great idea and provides excellent standards for security and payment, but they simply charge too much for projects to be completed. Rates are 15% over $20 and a flat rate of $3 when under $20. This is a rip off, especially when you try to get something done for $5.

I think rentacoder is great. I've used them for 5 or 6 projects. I am a real estate agent and when I need quick little graphic or some flash stuff for my site or a transcription... Only one place to go. It's like ebay though and buyer beware. Anyone who uses some good sense will love it also. I think the escrow process makes good sense. The arbitration process is a good as it can be. I went through arbitration and won and was very satisfied.

The customer support must improve, 1 month to get a reply for a very simple question is too much. There are no excuses!

I think RAC is a great idea , and I have found the site admin to be great so far. I have posted several projects and almost all were completed . On occassion you get a great coder ... BUT there are some real gangsters out there and have made errors of judgement in the past.

I've searched low and high for people to help me solve my coding problems. Most message boards did nothing, as people didn't reply. But when i found out about Rent A Coder it solved all my coding problems. Just like to say how great Rent A Coder is, and loads of people i know agree with me 100%.

Rentacoder.com is a horrible place for coders as they blindly support the buyers and give coders bad ratings, you will have to be a slave of the buyer and will have to do whateever they say or else rentacoder will spoil your reputation forever. Moreover you dont get paid for the service that you provide because any buyer can reduce their promised bid amount and rent a coder dosent have any problems regarding that............

Working on RentACoder enables me to make around $1,000 / year without much knowledge in programming or design. Great site for intermediating bigger contracts.

I stumbled across RAC about 3 years and haven't looked back - i've probably had around 50 projects done through them and am very very satisfied. At the moment a team of coders from Pakistan are working on a website for me, see the work in progress for yourself at http://www.flirtingfaces.com. When you consider that I got quotes from firms in the UK who all wanted over 15 times more money, the value of RAC is crystal clear.

I've worked with RAC both as a coder and as a buyer for many years. All I can say is, day after day they get worse and worse.

Please note rentacoder staff are INCREDIBLY STUPID PROFESSIONAL LIARS. They lie even with their slogan. With different words if someone tries to make serious project he will stumble in the incredible stupidity of rac staff. People interested to make serious projects have to go far away from rentacoder.

We recently used rentacoder to receive bids on the development of an online aviation teaching aid for the student pilot. We received about 100 bids and they were all from honest and reputable people and firms across the world. The site ranks each bidder -- you can see their work history and their satisfaction rate. Reviews of their work have been posted by prior customers. The site acts as a mediator in the case or disputes about the work and holds payment until work is satisfactorily completed.

I recommend all buyers to be VERY CAREFUL on this site. If they side with coders who develop email clients without reply features, who knows what'll come next.

This is one that I LOVE, the only thing I hate is you pay a monthly fee in order to bid and when you get a job and get paid they take a fee from that as well. But other than that it can keep you pretty busy.

I have developed a personal hatred for RentAcoder.com, after they asked me for $100 up-front for a programming project, then cancelled my account as soon as I paid. Whatever their excuse is, I lost $100, and have nothing to show for it. So avoid them like the plague.

I will never use rentacoder again, it caused more hassle and cost than it saved me time.Even I found two reliable people I despite the fact that their so called arbitration process is a very strange process that does not seem to serve a buyer but rather is a "copy and paste procedure" of "rules and regulations" set by rentacoder.

RAC charges 12.5 - 15% which is robbery On top of that RAC's website is inferior to Elance and Guru

My batting average on RAC is poor. All of my experience was as a buyer. Before closing my account and going elesewhere I probably had a dozen, maybe more projects. Most of the hard code projects went ok, eventually, even when you go with a coder who has good ratings your chances are still 50/50 that the coder will do the job. Forget their technical accumen just getting someone who will pay attention is a challenge.
