)BB&T is treating my loan renewal as if I were a delinquent, non-perferred customer. I signed a $67,500 loan agreement 7 yrs ago in alabama with Colonial Bank for a 2 acre, lakefront lot in a subdivision (since then I improved the property by adding underground utilities.) The terms were a 5yr balloon over 20yrs @ 6.5%. I re-signed for an additional 2yrs for the same terms - a few months later BB&T purchased Colonial Bank. This is where the issues start. I was contacted 4 weeks before my loan is due and was told my loan renewal is under a "special" class for review before renewal because it was a Colonial Bank loan. This includes requirements specific to BB&T and which I was never informed of before now. I need a land appraisal which would be required every time I have to renew (which would be every 2yrs). The cost for a land appraisal is over $1000.00!! I disputed the need for an appraisal and received agreement for a lesser cost evaluation. Next I'm told I cannot have the 6.5% interest rate because it's BB&T's policy to make a certain amount off of a loan. I was told it would increase to 7.325%. Really? Even when the interest rates are lower now than when they were 7yrs ago (I just resigned a different renewal loan 6mths ago for 6.5% at a different bank). I would think money coming in is better than no money at all and this is where they will be with my loan. Now I don't care if I have to pay more money at another bank to get a different loan - I do not like the way this loan officer is speaking to me (customer service training would be useful for her) and these "new" policies applying without proper notification for my renewal loan - I will be shopping for my loan elsewhere.

I used this bank from 1992 through 1998. They originally started out as Ohio Valley Bank in the WV area where I lived. They were great to work with during this time. They switched over to BB&T right before I closed my account with them, but I had no issues with the switch or any customer service issues. My mom still banks with them back in WV. I now live in Ohio and no longer bank with them. I would suggest them to anyone in WV though. Nice staff, no account issues in 6 years of service, and they are right on target with technology.
↑ Back to topArrogant branch managers and deceptive and fraudulent practices
↑ Back to topBasically they can tell you ANYTHING, but you sign the contract giving them the authority to LIE TO YOU. What's worse is BRANCH BANKING AND TRUST helps them by funding their loans. Thanks BB&T. You need to do YOUR research for YOUR customers!!!!!!!!
↑ Back to topBB&T is a terrible financial institution. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I have had multiple problems with this bank at no fault of my own. I used to use direct deposit for my payroll check, once they sent my money back to my employer and it took two weeks for me to get paid. When I called the customer service line, they gave me no reason. The woman simply stated that there was a mix up. Am I the only one who doesn't like people stealing from me? I work very hard and with the economy being the way it is, I can't afford mix ups. My point is, STAY AWAY FROM BB&T!
