)I am writing this review for everyone out there that is considering a Capital One Secured Credit Card and I am here to tell you... DONT!! I recently was swindled into getting one of these cards I decided to pay $100 for a $250 credit limit. First and foremost I paid (which came out of my account INSTANTLY) and had to wait over a month before I got my card! The day I activated my card I was charged an additional $29 for a "membership fee". I asked a rep. what this fee was about and was told the fee was so that I could have 24/7 customer support! She told me that there was no way to remove the fee and that it would come out EVERY MONTH! She was very rude and said that it was clearly stated in the terms and conditions of the card. I am usually very careful in reading these terms and conditions and had not read anything about this fee. So I started doing some research. I went onto their website like I was going to sign up for that same card, and with a fine tooth comb I went through their terms and conditions. Low and behold it says right in there that there is NO FEE if loading $500 or more. It went on to say that the fee for loading less than $500 is $4.95 NOT $29!!!! So this rep lied to me and was very rude about it to say the least. Horrible experiences right and left! So, to any readers that are thinking that this is a good deal..... ITS NOT DONT FALL FOR IT! Horrible company and HORRIBLE EMPLOYEES!!!!

I am being charged for a service that I never used or purchased, opened dispute with capitol one, they sent me a letter for me to provide information about the transaction. I provided whatever they asked in the mail and I sent the mail. I am being rebilled for the same amount (76.66 USD) after a month. I called Capitol One 3 times, they said they will investigate to see what happened and they would call me back with the information but they never called. At the end I am being charged for 76.66 USD for nothing. Do not deal with Capitol One, worst customer service I have ever experienced. They will steal your money, dont open a bank account, dont apply for a credit card, they are scammers!!!
↑ Back to topSince December I've been trying to contact someone, anyone, within capital one that has both the ability to think and make decisions... Going back to November, I was told I had 2 offers, 1 for each cap one card I have. One offer was to have my annual fee eliminated and the other offer was to have my annual fee reduced. I called in, talked to the rep about the offers and ultimately I was told the changes would be made momentarily. Now March and I still have not received my fee reduction. After many calls, many online chats, and complaints to OCC/CAG, I'm still not getting any response from Cap One. I talked to Linda Noronha, Executive Response Committee, and she told me she would respond by phone or secure message/email in 1-2 days with answers to all my complaints. Now over a week later, She hasn't responded. There are more complaints! I've had 1 card for over 2 years, and asked for a credit limit increase, since 2 new cards I've opened within the last year (chase slate & Citi preferred) offered 3-5 times an initial credit limit than cap one, a card I have had for nearly 3 years. I also asked for a CLI for the other card, a card I had for 1.5 years, both were denied. In short, I was real interested in knowing why I was denied, simply because my credit is fairly excellent. According to MyFico.com, Equifax and TransUnion has me at 744 & 782. My Experian Plus Score is 759. I have never been denied credit, mainly because I only request it when it makes sense. My credit file has a nice mix, low utilization and all accounts (except with cap one) have competitive rates (used car loan at 4.7%, mortgage at 4% and credit card rates ranging from 10.9 to 13.9%). Anyways, even though it is federally mandated to give a reason for denial, I have never received their reason. I asked for this CLI back in November, the same time I was told about the annual fee reduction. I brought this back to the attention of a cap one rep, again asking for the denial reason or send it to me, and they told me they cannot. Ultimately, I'm now looking at legal avenues to remedy all the issues I'm having. Sure I can close them, and may do that, but as you well know, closing accounts can have a negative impact on your score... I'd rather just be treated fairly and continue having the accounts opened. Small issues like the fact that cap one uses only overseas reps, mainly out of India, is annoying but not a huge issue. It usually takes going through the first 3-5 customer service reps just to get an adequate English speaking rep. This isn't as big a deal, just a little frustrating! I'd stay away from these guys entirely. Go with a company like Chase or Citi, where customer service is truly customer service and when they offer something to you, they follow through on it. According to Cap One reps, as of January 1, 2012, they will no longer offer annual fee reductions and because they didn't adjust my account throughout the month of December, they now cannot reduce my annual fee. In a nutshell, because of incompetence on cap one's end, I'm now stuck with an annual fee forever.

I've had a chapter 7 bankruptcy and I want to buy a house in months to come I was informed that capital one has a secured card that would help my credit score and for revolving credit. It was only a 200 dollar limit but paying my balance off in full on each due date has been wonderful my credit score has went up 60-66 pints in 6months. Just be responsible and pay on time there won't be scams ratings.

My bankruptcy was discharged 1 month ago and capital one gave me a $500.00 limit CC. I use it for gas only and pay before due date. I have only had for 1 month and already have $6.00 cash back. So far Capital one has been A+ with me.
↑ Back to topCapital One is the worse credit card company in the world, better yet the worse lending company ever. Please folks do not apply here and then try to get answers when something doesn't look right, Capital One will give you the run around of your life. I tried to call them to set up my payments so I wouldn't run into any problems, they told me it will be a fee to set that up. So i agreed to the fee and set up my payment plan, when I call in the next month they go and tell me I'm 30 days past due. So like a good citizen I pay the balance and try to set up another payment plan, also paying another fee. Once again I was tricked and they told me I was 30 more days past due. These folks pile up fee after fee after fee, do not go with this company it will ruin your life.
↑ Back to topThis is the biggest Credit Card > rip-off in the United States. They take advantage of the way the economy is right now and charge you for there credit cards. something is not right > Helloo >you are putting the money that you use, other wise they would charge 35.00 dollars for over the credit limit ..This Credit Card Company would be the last in my book..
↑ Back to topI have worked for Capital One and they are the biggest scamers in the world. The whole company is about money and only about money. For those of you who are trying to credit limit increases, good luck with that. When you call and ask for a credit limit increase, Capital One is not making a decison based on your payment history or anything else they tell you. It's all based on a computer. The computer makes that descison for Capital One. You knows its a computer generated answer because people who have had their card for a couple of months and only made one payment on time get a $1,000 increase while those customers who have had their card for several years are still sitting there with a $300 credit line. Capital One is a scam and are only out to get people's money. Then on top of that they charge you all these fees. CAPITAL ONE SHOULD NO NEEDS TO BE OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!
↑ Back to topI have the same situation as most other people..I specifically applied for a card that has NO ANNUAL FEE and they still ended up charging me the fee because according to them I had to "read the fine print" when applying for the card I specifically chose the one tht said no annual fee in big letters. I had the card for a year and paid all my balances off in full too! they are all bullshit and when I asked to speak to their supervisor they were being very rude and talked to me like I'm stupid or something. I will be closing my account.
↑ Back to topDo not deal with them.
They have charged membership fees on my card, but while I have applied for card I was promised to not charge any membership and annual fees.
I talked to their customer care and asked to revert the charges but they denied to do this. Huh They are not good company to deal with.
Name: Garbage banking practices.
They are the worst credit people to deal with. They are not friendly. They ad new more expensive charges to your accounts. Change the deal constantly. Wont let you out !!! They may give you a chance but you sure do pay for it !!!
↑ Back to topI was also in the military and am going to court to get them to remove delinquencies they placed on my credit while I was in Iraq! ALL MILITARY STAY AWAY!
↑ Back to topI was on active duty with the Marines in 2007. Capital one has placed negative marks on my credit reports and now refuses to remove them, because I didn't make a payment while conducting operations overseas. This company is trash and not veteran or military friendly all my brothers in arms STAY AWAY!

If you're responsible with your money and don't carry a balance, Capital One is the place to get a Visa card. The rewards are amazing. I have earned nearly $400 cash back in just six months! I always pay off my balance each month on time, so there is no interest or fees. I'm getting paid to spend my money, and I love it! Now Capital One is introducing a high yield checking account with 5X the national interest for one year. I'll be opening one up this week.

I've been a Capital One member for many, many years and really liked them. On Oct 11, I got my bill with a $29 fee, as usual. I am now not working so called them to get a card without a fee. Turns out, I could get a BETTER card with no fee...but they would not return my $29. They gave me 1500 miles ($15 value). But refused to return the fee which was only posted 13 days before. If I CANCELLED the card, I could get the $29 back, but not if I stayed. So they SCREW their best customers. I wonder how many years I have been paying this fee and getting the SHAFT.

I've had my card for 2 yrs and paid my bill online since i started using it. but suddely aol and internet explore arent compatable w/ their sight. dont use capital 1 for anything if u dont want to use a new browser unless u already use firefox.

Absolutely terrible customer service, provide you no benefits if you have a platinum account. Ended up being charged $39.99 annual fees which were for providing me customer service and allowing me to pay my card? Thanks so much for letting me give you money, and thanks for charging me for that great convenience. Canceled my account immediately. Will do business elsewhere.

It's great...as long as things go well. However, I was recently charged twice by a company. I contacted Capital One and dealt with utter ineptitude. The company creditted my account, but Capital One REBILLED the damned thing. I ended up with Apu who barely speaks English (think Peggy from the Discover Card commercials?). I'm still battling the damned thing. Trust me, once this is resolved, Capital One can kiss this dedicated customer of ten years good bye.
↑ Back to topCAPITAL ONE IS A SCAM!!!!!!
Received my card, activated it, and the first time i tried to use it for gas the card was declined. I called customer service and was told the card was suspended.I was told it would take 7-10 days for me to receive paper work to fill out to to reactivate the card. Then was told it might do this every time i try to use the card. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS RUDE, nor would they let me speak to anyone in charge.
WHATS THE POINT IN HAVING A CARD THAT YOU CAN NEVER USE?
Trust me guys don't get a credit card, only spend the money you actually have. They called my grandma like 100 times instead of calling my home phone. The Jews that work at capital one have no mercy whatsoever. Everytime I call to make a payment arrangement I get put on hold for hours.
↑ Back to topIf you are looking to rebuild your credit don’t go with their secure credit card, this company was a pain in my ass when it came to refunding money back. Recently drop this company due to there in consist service.
↑ Back to topThe Capital One "No fee" policy on international card fees is anything but..... I was charged $6.10 (8 times) for using an ATM but they did not reimburse per their stated poiccy. They said the fees were "currency translation fees" and not an "ATM Fee". If I wanted reimbursment, they said I wpould have to prove it was an ATM fee by showing a document from the local ATM owner. Of course a month after the used of the card, that is not possible. Another trick perpetrated by a bank to lure you in as a customer and then impose a prohibitive rule on you.
↑ Back to topcapital one is an awwful company to try and start to build credit. better of try a real bank vs a command center acting like a bank do not use them please thier awwful.
↑ Back to topmy card changed from chase to capital one. i set up payment through my bank account and they kicked my payment back and want a letter on bank stationary saying its my bank and account number are good. i pay all my bills this way, but these people are just trying to make sure i am later so they can charge penalties. its a scam. if i set it up with my account number with routing number it should be good. these people are crooked beyond repair. they wont take my word for it and want my bank to give them a letter with all my info through the mail. i feel like a little kid needing a letter from mom. i hate this crad company. capital one is the name, capital one, capital one.
↑ Back to topCapital one and all other moneylender are all bums leeches, parasites, why borrow from anyone? why not do without, save, work for your own money?
Bankers and preachers the vermin of the earth
I asked for and was sent a card. After first use they blocked it. Stated that I needed to go to a capital one bank to prove who I was. While in Texas, I did present myself and asked that they close my account. That took an hour. Since then I receive a monthly offer for a new card...they never stop sending the mailers no matter how I protest. The right hand doesn't even know there is a left hand.
↑ Back to topCapital One sent me credit cards in the mail I never applied for . The only thing I could think of is someone else applied in my name and was planning on stealing them from my mail box or some such plan. Turns out I used to have a card with them years back and canceled it . I was now divorced and I got two cards one with my name one with my ex wife. I thought she did this. Upon asking Capital One for the signed application , they could not produce one and said they did not have one and only then was I able to remove this account from my Name. SCARRY

No international transaction fees. Capital One cannot handle a fraud notification for a trip of more than 30 days. Account managers at Capital One fraud department cannot empathize with customer problems and are bound by "policy" so they cannot even hear what you are saying.

Pros: Good Introductory rate Cons: Customer Service is the pits!. Capital One is an annoying company with an aggressive marketing department that just keeps pushing and pushing until they get you to accept an offer. I cannot count how many times I received an offer from this company in the mail to sign up for a credit card or the number of phone call solicitations to accept a new visa card. I get stacks of mail from credit card companies on a regular basis, but none of them can top Capital One. I get more junk mail from this company than any other.

Pros: none, easy to get cards Cons: horrible customer service, update account charges every couple weeks. I would NEVER recommend this to anyone. They could care less about customers and honestly Capital mean using their card will result in punishment for their own stupidity.

I was 18 years old and straight out of high school. I had never had a credit card or any kind of credit. They gave me a credit limit of $5000.00. I have been a capital one member since 2003. I am very happy with them. I have never been late or gone over my limit. I have never had a problem with capital one. I did go through a little hardship and almost fell behind on my card payments, but capital one worked with me without ruining my credit score!

By far the easiest loan I've ever received. I did the entire thing online. Cap one gives you a lower rate if you agree to do auto withdrawal from your checking account which I happily did. In a couple of days I received a "blank check" for the car I was buying at the dealership (there was a "not to exceed" notice on the check).

Pros Capital One provides great work/life balance. Everyone takes great pains to be polite and supportive. There are a number of courses provided by Capital one university to ensure that the employees know how to get along with one another. Cons Senior managers are typically not experts in their departments' core competencies. Therefore, SME employees in the department must "pitch" their ideas for projects to management, progressing slowly along a long learning curve for the manager.

Pros The best reasons to work for Capital One are the flexible work arrangements. I tend to be more productive working from home. The compensation and benefits are also great. Cons It is hard to get promoted even if you're working at the next level. Sometimes it seems it's all about who you know.

Pros: Reasonable introductory rate, easy payment, online statements, quick credit line increases. Cons: High annual fee, poor customer service. Your experience with Capital One can be what you make of it. So far, mine has been very positive. I got a Visa with a decent interest rate, easy payment method, and a quick credit line increase. What's in my wallet? A Capital One card, and it will be there for a while.

I have had my account with them for over 5 years. During the entire time, I was only 30 days late once (about 3 years ago) due to an oversight. Recently my APR was increased to about 20%. I spoke with 3 supervisors, and I was told it was increased for all customers due to "economic conditions". I feel that this is an unfair practice, especially considering my excellent payment history. Since all my other credit card companies appreciate my business, and they keep my rate competitively low, I will be paying the Capital One Platinum credit card account off and moving on with my remaining cards.
